Linda decided to share her story with YOUtopian Estates to highlight how disability has led her to homelessness. Linda reflects on how she was originally living with her husband before he went to jail for trying to steal a wheelchair ramp so that she would be able to get into their apartment without issue.

Linda comments on how expensive cost of living is nowadays and “apartments are not very handicap friendly; so trying to find apartments that have a ramp for the disabled is very difficult.” She continued to speak on how unsafe it is to be living on the streets. “I am still able to do what I need to do, I can live independently. I just need somewhere to go because living on the streets is not where it is safe. We are not all lazy, we just need help. We just need somewhere to go.”

Linda was very eager to share her story with YOUtopian Estates and wanted to keep in contact to keep up with progression. Linda wants her story to contribute to people understanding the hardships of being homeless and hopes it makes a difference for others.
