San

San was born in Texas, lived in Michigan, then migrated back to Texas. San shared her story with YOUtopian Estates to speak about how abandonment led to homelessness. San is a mother of four. She was working, had a home, and was happily married, or so she thought. San fell ill with diabetes and had to get her leg amputated. When San awakened from anesthesia, her husband was gone. Forever.

San was abandoned by her husband and he let everything else go as well. San stated “He just left me with nothing. Now I have an amputated leg and metal in my fingers to where I cannot really work, but I am still independent.” San wants people to know that before people judge that “we are all trying, we just all need help to find a place to live.”

San does not want to be treated as if she is less than a person due to her circumstances. She is encouraging and thankful for the mission that YOUtopian Estates is pushing and hopes it changes many lives of the homeless community.
